Our shaft specifications help you understand and compare BLACK IMPACT models. This guide explains what torque, bend point, and spin profile mean—and how to use them when choosing a shaft.

Our Testing and Ratings

BLACK IMPACT’s published torque values and bend point and spin profile ratings are based on testing and classification carried out by our brand and manufacturing team using consistent methods and criteria.

Testing methods, equipment, and rating scales can vary between manufacturers. A torque value or LOW, MID, or HIGH rating from another brand may not represent the same measurement or classification used by BLACK IMPACT.

Use our specifications as a starting point for comparing models within the BLACK IMPACT lineup, rather than as a direct conversion between brands.

Torque °

Torque describes how much a shaft twists under an applied twisting load. It is expressed in degrees.

Under the same testing conditions, a lower torque value indicates less twisting, while a higher value indicates more twisting.

Torque is different from bending stiffness. A lower number does not automatically mean a better shaft, greater accuracy, or a better fit for your swing. Consider torque alongside shaft weight, flex, and the overall bend profile.

Bend Point

Bend point describes the general location where a shaft tends to bend under a defined test setup. Our LOW, MID, and HIGH ratings describe relative locations along the shaft:

  • LOW: closer to the tip, or clubhead end.
  • MID: closer to the middle.
  • HIGH: closer to the handle, or grip end.

Bend point is a simplified description—not a complete picture of stiffness throughout the shaft. Two shafts with the same bend point rating can still respond differently.

A bend point rating alone does not guarantee a particular launch angle or ball flight.

Spin Profile

Spin profile describes a shaft’s relative backspin tendency within our rating system.

LOW, MID, and HIGH are qualitative categories, not specific spin rates measured in revolutions per minute (RPM).

Your actual spin depends on how you deliver the club at impact, along with clubhead design, loft, strike location, ball choice, and the completed club setup. A LOW spin rating does not guarantee low spin for every golfer.

No single specification tells the whole story. Read weight, flex, torque, bend point, and spin profile together to narrow your options.

These specifications provide guidance—not a guarantee of distance, accuracy, launch, spin, or feel. Testing a shaft with your own swing and club setup remains the best way to assess whether it suits you.
